About CEPECOM
A community-rooted centre for peace and justice
Our Mission
Transforming conflict through dialogue for a peaceful future.
CEPECOM exists to bridge the justice gap for rural and underserved communities. We believe that every person deserves access to fair, timely, and culturally appropriate conflict resolution — regardless of their economic circumstances. Through mediation, we help communities resolve disputes without the burden, cost, and delay of formal court proceedings.
Our Vision
To reduce the global justice gap through viable strategies for resolving conflict through mediation, especially for citizens who are economically disadvantaged.
We envision a world where mediation is the first resort, not the last — where communities have the tools and support they need to resolve conflicts peacefully, restore relationships, and build lasting harmony.
Background
CEPECOM was founded in response to the overwhelming backlog of court cases in Ghana — 94,946 cases as of 2018/2019 — and the systematic exclusion of rural communities from formal justice. In the Twifo Praso enclave and surrounding areas, access to courts is limited by distance, cost, and complex legal procedures. Many community members simply give up on seeking justice. CEPECOM was established as a third force: a community-rooted mediation centre that offers an accessible, affordable, and culturally appropriate path to conflict resolution. By training local mediators and building trust within communities, we are closing the justice gap one case at a time.
